Imperial Prince Hachijo-no-miya Osahito (八条宮長仁親王)
Imperial Prince Hachijo-no-miya Osahito (June 18, 1655 - August 16, 1675) was a member of the Japanese imperial family who lived in the early Edo period. He was the fourth head of the Hachijo-no-miya (Katsura-no-miya) family. He was the first son of the Emperor Gosai.
His mother was a nyogo (a high-ranking lady in the court [a consort of an emperor]), Princess Akiko (a daughter of Imperial Prince Takamatsu-no-miya Yoshihito.)
His childhood name was Ichinomiya, Wakamiya, Kuranomiya (倉宮), or Achamaro.
After Imperial Prince Hachijo-no-miya Yasuhito who had no sons to succeed him passed away in November 1665, Imperial Prince Osahito inherited the Miyake (house of the imperial prince) as the heir of the Imperial Prince in the following year, 1666. In 1669, he received the title of Imperial Prince and was named Osahito. He had a coming-of-age ceremony in December of the same year. He was entrusted with tasks for the Nakatsukasa-sho (Ministry of Central Affairs). He passed away on August 16, 1675. He died at the age of 21. His homyo (a posthumous Buddhist name) was Reishoin.
